I had found the description intriguing, but now that I know it romanticizes rape and glorifies assault I'm out. This review contains minor spoilers, nothing unpredictable or what you haven’t already seen on booktok. He just has an ego where he decides she will do what he wants because he's powerful enough to get it and so it shall be. and also he's hot and she starts finding him kinda desirable on the part where I left off, but I'm going to stop you right there.Adeline is better than me because i know if a man that looked like Zade approached me, i’d fold instantly. It is way more sinister, but it is a story on sex trade, and the unspeakable things that are done to real people every day. The 2 of them should be a bit more sexually open to accept their kinks and explore it in a safe and CONSENSUAL way. What even is this, it doesn't take a genius to understand that writing like this is not adequate for a book that is meant to have a dark tone to it.

This book literally perpetuates the idea that abuse and rape is normal and that a guy can love and care for you even if he does those horrible things to you. A lot of darker themes are tackled here and as a reader you need to be smart about knowing what you're walking into. This wasn't something I was into so I shared that and stated why, and I don't see anything wrong with that. I think what I find so unappealing about this male character is that you don't see him trying to win over the fmc. I'm just so glad to have found this book, it was just what I wanted and was looking for but unable to find until now.

I will not be manipulated by "okay he does this to her but look at all the girls and women he's saving! I do seriously recommend the second book if you like the dark themes, but not necessarily the relationship between the two characters. I disagree with the sheer number of poor reviews on this book strictly due to the fact that the readers were unprepared for the disturbing and dark content. She begged him to stop, talked about how it hurt, and he left her crying in a ball after he fucked her.
