About this deal

My Summer With You Volume 1: The Summer of You captures the vulnerability of young love and the courage not only of confessing your feelings but being open to receiving them. If there is one thing manga is good for, it is making a late twenty-something year old long for a high school summer of love.

Movies bond them together and lead to some real banter, and at least not the “boom, now I am in love with you” approach many other manga in the genre seem to take. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Manga creator had been reported missing on Sunday ― Warning: this article contains statements about a possible suicide. By the time the confession comes, we're expecting it, but that doesn't cheat it of any of its impact. But the boys continue to be friends and make plans for the summer: they will visit important locations from one of Saeki's favourite films.

This gave me a Tripping Over You vibe, with Saeki being direct about his feelings in the first chapter and Wataru being completely thrown off balance by the unexpected declaration. There was one specific issue that I did take with the story (I won't reveal it here due to spoilers); however, it may not necessarily have been a correlation that Furuya was attempting to make. Some involve that stage where a character is figuring out their sexuality, while other knew all along but are dealing with coming out or accepting themselves. High-schooler Wataru Toda is a film buff and he’s delighted when – through a chance encounter – he discovers that Chiharu Saeki (in the same year) shares his obsession.

In My Summer of You, Chiharu Saeki and Wataru Toda are two high school students who don’t immediately seem like they would be best friends, but they share a common hobby: They’re film buffs. I liked the slow-burn friends-to-lovers dynamic between Wataru and Chiharu; however, I could have done without the ‘past meeting’ storyline. Wataru doesn't seem to have ever had a romantic relationship, or even particularly romantic feelings, before, and when Saeki confesses to him he's thrown completely off guard. Claramente pienso volver a leerlo después de que deje que mi corazón se recupere de la llorada intensa que me mandé hace unos días.I like that in any romance, really, but titles like this and I Hear the Sunspot seem to outdo many competing titles in how they handle the quiet, slow build of the protagonists' relationship and the emphasis on emotions and, to a degree, repressing them and grappling with them. Together since middle school, high-schoolers Ren and Kai find their friendship is put to the test when they’re placed in different classes. But the more time he spends with Chiharu, Wataru realizes he may not only be as unaffected by Chiharu's confession as he claimed to be, but those feels may also be mutual. It's a story that effectively combines the slice-of-life, fantasy, and underdog genres in a digestible package.
