This book had all the adventure I was looking for and some of the language simply had my dying-like the phrase "thrashing threes". This book begins in Johannesburg, South Africa, a place I would love to visit with an enigmatic character like Benjamin Lucas, originally from San Francisco. He poses as a free-lance writer by day, mystery man by night. The even bigger problem is that President Barrett has an even bigger master plan that he is working on and Liam and Noa are only two of the players that he is manipulating to put that plan into action. It involves putting the Vice-President and the Speaker of the House on the sidelines, taking out several terrorist organizations, preparing military exercises, and purposely antagonizing several Chinese leaders that could cause irreparable harm to international relations. No one gets this big without amazing natural storytelling talent - which is what Jim has, in spades' Lee Child The plot was creative and the writing was decent. I prefer the creep factor over political/war crimes.

Kind of didn’t really have a point apart from veiled digs at a former president of the USA who I don’t need to name.This could have been better than it was because of the sidebar characters and not much of a plot. I'm torn on how to rate this one. I loved the start, and was on board 100% finding it hard to stop listening. I was worried and anxious to get to the end. And, as feared, it took a very wimpy turn about an hour before the end. It tried to ramp up the [predictable] action, but it wasn't enough for me to salvage the weak turn it took. So, anti-climatic is the best I can say. It's an interesting and plausible plot which I would have said as not until 7 years ago. FrighteningJames Patterson has written many presidential thrillers, like The President's Daughter and the The President is missing, both of which I enjoyed. I thought this was interesting because it was startlingly similar to what is happening in the United States currently with the Trump Administration. What happens when a pyschotic sociopath becomes President? Keegan Barrett, former director of the CIA, has easily transitioned to the Oval Office. Only six months into his term, h comes up with an off-the-books plan to use the CIA on home soil to get rid of his enemies. And he is ruthless.
