I am so enthralled with Zade and Addie. This continuation and completion to the Cat and Mouse duet was beautiful and heartbreaking in soo many ways. With that in mind, this book was dark to another level in comparison to the first and like stated above With some explicit violence and sexual material, the series is dark and edgy. Trigger warnings are also included. There are mentions of murder, drug abuse, and suicide in these. In this narrative, Adeline must deal with loss and trauma. The novel is engaging with strong character development and an intriguing premise. This book would have been so much better if it was a completely different story. Meaning, this book does not seem much like a sequel to the next book. I felt like I was reading two completely different stories honestly.One thing Haunting Adeline is known for is its spicy chapters. But, soon it wasn’t just the spice that had readers invested in the storyline and rooting for the characters but also it’s mysterious plot. Hooked is similar to Haunting Adeline because, just like Zade, James stalks Wendy, and he has similar character traits. Firstly, I want to say how much I adored Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton. Very well written, great characters, good plot. I knew when I started the first book that this was a duology, however I wasn’t sure what adventure the second book would take me on. Hunting Adeline" brilliantly wraps up the electrifying Cat and Mouse Duet, plunging readers into a shadowy world teeming with ominous men and cryptic creatures. The essence of this tale is the fraught survival game between the Hunter and the Diamond. I truly don't know how to put into words how much I LOVE this book and sincerely this entire duet. This is a masterpiece and I have been putting off writing this review because this one is hard for me to write. I'll start with honesty. This book destroyed me. And you may think because it is dark and twisted, but the true reasoning is because of the immense pressure to make this one live it up to the first and to be frank, I was a little burnt out. It wrung every last blood, sweat, and tear from my body. And I believe I came out of the other side with something beautiful - a little jagged and imperfect, but beautiful all the same.
